Artist Statement
Chromesthesia: a condition in which nonvisual stimuli, such as sound, cause the perception of color.
I have experienced chromesthesia my entire life, and my focus as a glass and audio artist is to exhibit color generated through sound. Within my studio practice I explore noise which is derived from various glass objects, tools, processes, and studios. Motion is indicative of both glass and sound. I work with hot glass because it allows me to manipulate form to achieve resonance that is unique. Utilizing audio recording software I can compose musical works which feature sounds from the glass forms I produce, as well as the audio samples taken from these glass related sources.
